My mam was getting out of the car today, slammed the door behind her. Wind caught it too which didn't help. :angry1:

Anyway the belt buckle got caught between the frame of the car and the closing door. :wall:

It now looks to be sitting off line to the others. Any ideas for a fix? Tried pushing on it but didn't seem to do much.

Do you guys know, what are you looking at?

This is a peace of Germany history. This is the manufactory of the old eastern Germany Trabant 601.
It has a 2-stroke 2 Zylinder engine and is build entirely off kind of a paper stuff with loads of plastic.

These cars where manufactored in the old DDR (German Democratic Republic) and the people who wanna have one had to wait 18 years for that car.

Not kidding.... 18 years...

Not build anymore.

:sucks:

No it wasn't that bad Akki, the waiting list was ONLY 12 years :icon_biggrin:

The second guy is from the fast show, alright alright, calm down.

Ok... you are right... 18 years is a bit high. It was something between 12.5 and 14 years

If you wanted one, you didn't simply walk into your local Trabant dealer. Instead, you "applied" for the car, and in some cases the waiting list was 14 years!

East Europeans could opt for larger more expensive cars, such as the Wartburg's of the day, but it was the humble Trabant that was in financial reach of most, and this ensured the car was the most common sight on the (very un-congested) roads.

In an attempt to improve performance, many owners tried to convert their two-stroke into a four-stroke, long before the Trabant 1.1 with a Polo engine debuted.

The most popular engine option was that derived from the Fiat 128, this model arguably the most collectable and sought after of the P601's today.

Some specs:

AWZ Trabant P601
1964 - 1991
Country: East Germany
Engine: 2 cylinder 2 stroke
Capacity: 594cc
Power: 26bhp
Transmission: 4 spd. man
Top Speed: 100 km/h (claimed - only the brave)
Number Built: 3,000,000+
