Hi Folks,

was just reading the Big End Bearing thread and was just wondering what is the correct oil to use on a Jap 1997 Sti. subaru said 10w 40 and a few other places have told me 10w 60, 0w 30 , 0w 40 , 5w 30 etc . so to prolong the life of my engine and big end can anyone tell me what is the correct/best oil for the car. I am currently using magnatec 10w 40 semi

First of all - never use a 0w...

AFAIK the majority of dealers will use GTX Magnatec 10w 40 semi... and it is what Subaru reccomend.
I've used Castrol RS 10w 60 fully synthetic, and Silkolene 10w 60 with no problems....

Dealers oil is for a 212 bhp impreza fully catted no mods though. So jap or highly modded cars need a change.
