Just wanted to know if this is bad for an engine?? Is it going to shorten the life span of an engine etc etc, and is it avoidable??

is when the cylinder bore is larger than the piston head .
engine is basically fooked if the slap is bad enough!!!!!

not exactly.

its when in simple terms the piston is going very minutely up and down as well as in and out....
to say engine fooked is a crazy statement........ drive her on ....... can last for years.....

yes if severe you'd need rebuild with 0.5mm overbore of block and 0.5mm oversize pistons x4.....

I'd piston slap in my 98 GT555... nothing more than a slight annoyance when cold! It would disappear when warmed up and never caused any problems! Drive her on!!!!
