unpluged forester xt !! strange?

Petrolheads
ok i brought a Sigma M30 alarm for my04 sg5 forester xt
i had some time off work today so i decided to identafi the wires
.
how ever under the steering colum i found a green one way plug (unpuged)
its a single green plug with a blue wire witch plugs in to a orange wire.
so i plug it in and turned the key to on (not start) and the engine fans came on and ecu warning light started to flash on and off

can some one else check and see if they have the same plug (unpluged)
please.
also there is a second plug the same in the drivers side foot well below the hood pull under the plastic mold that runs along the bottom of the door.
its all a bit mad . make me wonder if there was or is a fault with the foz befor i brought it 5 weeks ago!!!!!

Those wires are used to check for engine code faults. I hope you did not turn the engine over when you plugged them in, you will need a whole new engine rebuild if you did!!!!

They are just for checking for engine fault codes. Nothing to worry about. Lots of cars come pre wired for the likes of air con, cruise control, heated seats etc.... It just makes it easier to fit if it is already wired, just plug and play sort of thing.

cool thanks a mill for the info.
think i might just get some one else to install and alarm for me .
takes way to much time to work out all the wires. :ponder:
