Manx International Rally....

Second place in the Isle of Man International Rally for Eamonn Boland and Damien Morrissey in their NVD Subaru Impreza brings them even closer to the Global Group Irish Tarmac Championship, but with outright winners Mark Higgins and Rory Kennedy also registered for the series, the Wexford/Waterford pairing didn't quite get enough points to clinch the title yet.

Setting out on Saturday morning for the final day's stages, there was more than a minute between the two cars, but Boland, with three International wins already this year, brought the gap down to just eleven seconds by the finish. If he had beaten his Manx rival, he would be confirmed as champion, but with two rounds left, he still needs a few more points to be certain.

After many years of trying and several near misses, this was Letterkenny man Kennedy's first Manx victory, and with David Moynihan from Mallow co-driving Guy Wilks into third place, there were Irish competitors in the first three cars.

Corkman Brian O'Mahony, with John Higgins, brought his Super 1600 Renault Clio into seventh place overall and a clear class win, the only two wheel drive car in the top dozen positions, while Donegal pair Martin and Leona O'Donnell were also class winners in their Honda Civic.
