hey all, havin a nightmare tryin to get my car through the emissions, its bein in twice.. i have a cat in da downpipe and centre section, the lambda sensor is new but isn't a genuine subaru one,(would this cause it??) the car passes on da low idle but when its reved to 2500rpm the co 2 goes up to 2.25.. it should be between 0.3 and 0.7 i have tried fuel additives, new plugs.. its da only thing stopping me passing da test.. any ideas or anyone ye would recommend to send the car to?? really appreciated regards dave...

think there was something on here the other day about diptane its some sort of additive that lowers emmissions :dunno:

ive had problems in the past gettin petrol vw's through ncts and particulary with spurious lamda probes.try a genuine one.....
costly but u seem to have tried most other options
good luck
:ponder: :ponder:

@duffman i thought da cat might be fooked myself but i added the second cat in da centre section and it made no difference to it..

@markobucko i thing i will try a genuine sensor next.. 302 euro of subaru is that right price??

If you are getting it from one of our sponsors make sure you get your ISDC discount.....

Alan.

Get her plugged in to a diagnostic machine first! might save you a few quid!

Mine failed on emissions, got a new lamda sensor fitted and used half a bottle of diptane(as recommended by my Subaru mechanic ) fecking
flew thru emissions were way down on the test.

thanks for da help lads.. should have the sensor 2mor eve.. will get her checked at da weekend,, i am getting the sensor off j.j burkes in ballinrobe.. doubt i will be able to get a discount... hope it cures it thanks again dave.., :subaru:

i used pro tec fuel line cleaner :worship: :worship: in my last scoob and a previous escort and both flew through... have the NCT on the v limited tomor morn so am puttin the pro tec through it tonite... am leavin the 3in straight through on it just to see how it goes will let u no

Had the same problem with last car.Failed it 3 times left it into cartork and he managed to get sorted. Most of the probem was incorrect sensors installed by a previous trader on here.(think he was a trader for a while)

Just one thing bring car for a good run 30-60 minutes before test.Mechanic in nct told me car would have much better chance of passing if engine/oils up to running temp.Only live 5 minutes from test centre and difference in lambda reading was remarkable.Nct test mechanics were advising peole at start of tests to do this as machine gets proper reading after a good run.

Only a money grabbing farce.

:smokin:

Brought car through NCT this morning and failed on emmisions
may fire a standard exhaust on it and see how it goes :hang: :hang:

thats the first and cheapest option to go for mate

how come there is so many failing on emissions :?

Cause most lads have de-cat exhausts,
Or the lambda sensor is dodgy!
Dan

Low Idle:
770rpm CO 1.23% vol (above 0.5% Fail)

High Idle:
2740rpm Lambda 1.064 (over 1.03 Fail)
CO 0.73% vol (over 0.3% Fail)

there is a 3in straight through on it at mo from turbo, iv ran Pro Tec fuel line cleaner through it and this is the result... iv read about this diptane stuff.. has anyone used it is it any good :wall: :dunno:???

through a cat downpipe on! (there is loads around, I've got one you can borrow) and get her plugged into a diagnostic machine and drive the stones out of her on the way to the test center! you'll be grand!
Dan
