de-limit her

hi all
am off to the isle of man in a few weeks, and want to take the limiter off my wrx {no speed limits}, from what i've gathered the real early ones {mines a 94} have a limiter thats controlled by the speedo and not one that the ecu controls, not really to sure what im on about , but basically how do i de limit it. I don't want tp re-map her as its an old car and i live close to a maxol station as well!
