the new turbo is enroute and ive been told the spec c internals are a bit stronger than the normal sti i know the group n rally car is based on the spec c.a few different tuners are of the opinion that my car is more than capable of holding 400bhp on the standard internals as long as im not tracken it every 2nd day and i keep good oil in it and change it regularly...any one got any advice or info on cars running 400 on standards thanks
 
Im no expert Al but i would say NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only information i have to base this on is Litchfields Imports
SpeC Type 25 running 415 bhp . It use's the Cosworth engine / internals .

400 is the max IMO, but yeah it should handle it just fine, anything after that defo do the pistons.

Id consider smaller injectors then the 800cc or it could be a quite lumpy, 650's would be perfect and prob cheaper. Just incase you havent got the 800cc ones yet.

LOL Sorry Niall we where posting at the same time. It should do it but not leaving any safety margin.
 
the reason i was going for 800cc is to cover my self if i decide down the line i want to do the internals and and go for 450+.i was planning on putting a cosworth 2.5 block in and change a few other bits but its quite expensive. now i just wanna get it on d road at 400bhp and c if im happy with it. if the pistons fail <which im been told they wont>i could stick hks pistons and rods in and wouldnt cost mad money.when mapped can the lumpy feal not b smothened out????
 
pardon the lack of knowledge but what is a cosworth block? When you say cosworth i immediately think of the escort cossie. Do the cosworth company make boxer engines too or whats the story?

cosworth are an engineering firm..they've been associated with a lot of manufactures..they made the 190e cosworth for Merc..they made formulae 1 engines for ford/jaguar team amognst others..afaik only ferrairi have won more races..ford bought them for a while so they exclusively made Ford performance bits..In thier wisdom they sold it on now they are independent again..what they do for licthfields is make forged engine parts etc and rebuild the block
