To Roll or not to Roll

So I have planned to pick up my new tires after work, they are michelins, 225-45-18

Now there are some mixed opinions, if they will rub my arches after i get the car lowered, (Eibach pro kit, 30-35mm at the front and 25-30mm at the rear.) I have just checked my friends hawk and he is running 235-45-17 with no problem at all. on stock suspension. with loads of room left.

the post i find are a bit 50 - 50 people lowered with no issues and then people lowered that are scraping the arches. so just want a few opinions.

to add my wheels are 18 x 7.5J / ET 42

Thanks

when I red the topic I thought you were on about joint ;)
why going for a 45? I thought the common size 225/40/18?
if your stock tires were 205/55/16 that 4.40% diameter difference with the 45's with 40 you closer to the stock size which means no issues with rubbing look at this, assuming your factory tires were indeed 205/55/16 then you can see difference with both 40 and 45 and just to compare I entered the 17's you mention :

so from what I can read on 225-40-18 ill be ok, but with the 225-45-18 i might run into issues?

well other I can think of is lower your car first and then get your wheels to a tire place and get them to fit some worn tires in the desired size as a mock up and see if they rub then you will know which size to go for. than going the arse way and buying the tires first and then scr-ratching your head wondering how to make them fit. Im in similar position as I got 9.5 wide wheels and I want to have as little stretch as possible and Im stuck between 245/35/18 and 255/35/18. even crossed my mind to go and buy just one tire a to try-fit to both front and rear to see how is going to sit inside the arch
