The ISDC (Irish Subaru Drivers Club) website forums are for the online interaction of our members, Subaru enthusiasts and visitors alike. Due to its size and widespread appeal, everything we post is seen by thousands of people around the world, which means we have a duty of care that the content of the forums are legal and of a good and decent nature.

Whilst the ISDC is proud of the fact that occasions when this is not adhered to are rare, it does happen, so ISDC Committee Members have been made Moderators to ensure proper conduct within our forums.

What are Moderators?
Our Moderators are here to monitor and (where necessary) edit/move/delete posts in order to protect the short and long term good of this community. They are active members of the community, but also give up their own time to support you. They follow a set of guidelines placing the good of the community as the primary focus.

If your post is moved, edited, locked, deleted, etc... this will NEVER be a direct or personal attack on you. It will only be as a result of the guidelines that you can see below and will always put the community first, over any individual's personal ideals.

When will my thread be edited/deleted?
> Pornography, links to Pornography or links to other inappropriate sites.
> Swearing: Whilst the censored versions of swearing (eg s**t, etc) are usually considered OK, offensive/overuse of this may offend and may be moderated. In addition to this, any deliberate circumvention of the swear word filters is prohibited. Common sense prevails. E.g. the use of images which have swear words in them are not acceptable.
> Incitement to a flame war within this or any other forum
> Any sort of pyramid selling or referral schemes
> The advertising and sale of illegal bootleg material (such as copied DVDs, VCDs and computer software)
> Xenophobia, racism or personal abuse
> Spam or any other form of unauthorised advertising.
> Anything invasive of a person's privacy.
> Anything that is deemed by the ISDC as potentially libellous.
> Flagrant disregard for the interests of the community
> Sensitive content that cannot be moved, locked or edited.
> No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing illegal/defamatory statements
> Remove any copyright-infringing material (either text or graphic)
> Basically, whenever there is no value to the community that demands leaving the topic/message in place.

Editing is always visible to the community; whenever a message is edited, the date/time/edit author are shown within the message

The ISDC reserves the right to remove, or edit any thread for legal or other reasons.

When will a thread be locked?
> If there are persistent abuses of the behavior mentioned above.
> Unacceptable behaviour (as determined by the tone of the community; e.g. making inflammatory comments, slander, flame wars, etc., etc.)
> Completely off-topic discussion
> No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing

The ISDC reserves the right to lock any thread for legal or other reasons.

When will a thread be moved?
> When the thread clearly belongs in another forum
> When the topic moves onto a subject more appropriate to another forum.

Guidelines for placement of threads
The ISDC forums have been sub-divided into specific categories to assist you (the members) to be able to effectively post threads in a logical manner, and also allow members to effectively view/find information easily. Please take care to ensure you create new topics in the most relevant forum.

What is "potentially libellous"?
Libel is a very complicated part of the law. The general concept is that anything that cannot be proved by hard fact which could be considered damaging to a company or individual may be libellous.

What may be considered to be potentially libellous, is something where the above applies and the ISDC itself does not have the hard facts to prove without doubt that what is being said is accurate.

Due to legal complications that the ISDC could be considered liable for libellous comments posted by users, we have to show a continued and consistent practice of due-diligence which protects us against potential legal action.

This means deleting/editing posts containing this kind of material and taking every action reasonably possible to stop it being posted in the first place. For this reason, ANY potentially libellous content may be deleted immediately without warning or explanation.

Commercial Posts
Commercial Posts may be locked or removed if posted in any forum. A commercial post is defined as any post by employees or their associates that benefits either, directly or indirectly the company involved. This includes any company press releases, statements or advertising of practices of any kinds. We have a Traders Only Forum - which is exactly that. It is for pre-approved traders only who have paid the ISDC for advertising space. Traders must understand that all commercially related posts MUST be kept within the confines of this part of the ISDC forum.

Any posts that are deemed to be commercial outside of the ISDC Marketplacewill be deleted in the interests of fairness to all forum visitors, traders and potential customers alike.

Racist Posts/Comments
The ISDC will NOT tolerate racist comments. The members in general will not tolerate it either, which is displayed in any topic that someone posts a racist comment.

No matter how innocent or "jokey" the comment may be, this medium is a black and white text only medium, where thousands of people may view your comments.

Repeatedly posting of racist comments will result in being banned from the forum.

Flaming/Trolling
Flaming or Trolling is an unwanted and unacceptable practice on these forums.
Any person found to be knowingly Flaming or Trolling the forum will be subject to the following:
First Offence - Warning Issued
Second or further offences - Compulsory Ban
