Weird abs problem

Our 96 v2 wrx is missing its front left abs sensor. The light isn't on, & strangely the abs works on the other 3 wheels, as in under heavy braking the front left locks & the rest make the pedal vibrate & don't lock as they should. The abs light isn't disconnected either, it comes on when the ignition is turned on & goes out afterwards as normal. What I'm wondering is if I get a sensor & fit it on the front left will it mess up all my abs, assuming the abs ring is ok of course. How are abs faults reset on the old type diagnostics?

Follow the sensor into the loom and see if someone has put a resistor in or something. Could have been old owner had a problem with old hub/abs ring/bearing etc and it wasn't done properly.

Think I have a sensor I can give you . I would try get it sorted as could not be good for the gearbox
