Problem fitting the bushes into rear subframe.

Hey guys

Has anyone ever replaced the rear subframe bushes in subaru?
I ordered the Hardrace bushes (which look like the original steel inserts from subaru, but apparently they are supposed to be stiffer)
and they don't seem to fit to the rear subframe. There's about 1 mm difference between the hole in the subframe and diameter of the bush.
Normally they should get pressed in but I don't see it happening where they're so tight!

Hey mate, no the paint has been removed.. it's still tight as f... ;) I'm waiting for Baz and how he did it then!

Yeah I'm overhauling the rear suspension.. and practically every part is being replaced.

The rear subframe powder-coated.

She's gonna be tight after all. There will be no single rubber element in the suspension. everything Poly or pillowball.

because the bushing has a steel collar it will need a hydraulic press to get them into it either that or a bushing puller

Hi codders .

You need a press and bearing /bushing push/pull kit to do it properly with no hassle

You will also need to remove the power coat inside where the sub frame bush goes

Thanks Baz

I've already removed the paint from the area.. yet still it doesn't seem to fit. I will try and find a bushing push/pull kit and give it a go.

cheers
Piotr

It has to be a tight fit that's why a press is used either . A garage should charge too much to do it or if you're in Dublin anytime soon I'll do it

It looks like a socket set and a couple pieces of threaded bar would do the trick. Am i underestimating how it works???

If your stuck give me a shout have a press in work we could take a spin down and press them in.Ill check back on the site later see if you need them pressed ill pm you my mobile and we can sort a time(time is at a premium lately with a newborn). If your around the city try the mechanic across from Togher credit union his name is John tell him Steve with the legacy sent you in think he has the puller kit and a small hydraulic press. He fitted my rear diff bushes.

Cheers

No it's an actual purpose made kit. Cost me €160, very handy to have

All done and fitted! It seems like the hardrace are really tough to fit, but my mate and I managed to do it using a hydraulic press..
Thanks Baz for the hints.
