Polishing pipe on a back box using wire wool and metal polish.Any other ideas to bring it up. It's not the tail pipe pipe from box to centre section.

It takes a lot of work but if your will to put in the time get some 800- 1000-1200 sand paper and some warm water and sand the pipes starting with the 800 and finishing with the 1200 that will remove all oxidisation and heat discolouration ten get auto-sol metal polish and a pot scouring pad and scrub it with the polish buff it clean then get a polishing cloth and re do it and and finish with a microfiber cloth to buff it it will be like new but take a bit of time and need a few goes of auto-sol after sanding

Get you hands on some white diamond and a scotch pad, then move on to a mutton cloth and buff off with a microfiber cloth. It's how I done the diesel tank on my truck and it came up to a mirror finish. Same as with the alloys on the truck. But it does take time and effort

I did a load of engine bits on my old RX7, id agree with 800grit working to 1800 wet and dry then a polish with autosol works a treat

after first sanding

a bit more

then the autosol

done the big single turbo and that cam out great as well

Dec, would this method work ok on a stainless steel strut brace? There are a couple of STi logos etched onto it would the sandpaper take the look from those?

only AUTOSOL finish.
