Engine Management Light on

well lads, engine management light came on yesterday in my 2006 blob eye sti- irish car- no effect on car, running flawlessly as usual,

done diagnostic today- code p0420 showed up reading "Catalyst system low efficiency"- the fault also read as "historical"- code erased and light has stayed off.

ok, i presume its referring to sportscat in down pipe-?

last november i had stage 1 power upgrade done- second hand prodrive sports cat downpipe fitted- de cat mid section and hks cat back system- it was then re mapped.

my question is:

1.do i need to do anything else if light stays off as i presume its old fault code reappearing as a result of exhaust system fitted last year.?

2.if light comes back on does it mean new cat?

It must not have been turned when it was mapped kieran but I have a way around it I'll email ya if I have one in the tool box

nice one dec, i'm presuming its just old fault code showing caused by new mods last year but i presumed the re map would have sorted all that, also how come its taken nearly a year for the light to come back on?

once i don't need new sports cat i don't mind, cheers

The values should have been raised or turned off during mapping.

ok thanks, good to know, light still off, i presume it wont have any adverse effect on running of car
