hey lads ive 99 legacy b4 triptronic, theres a switch to the right of the gear lever that says power,a/t,hold??can any one fill me in on what it does, the last owner didn know either..cheers

AT hold is for driving in automatic or your case tiptronic though traffic.

When you switch it on you can crawl in traffic and then when you brake to a stand still you can let go of the brake and the car will not roll forward as it usually would, it "holds" the car until you press the accelerator again. Basically it means you can sit in traffic without your foot on the brake the whole time and without taking it out of drive.

Well..... thats what it does on a VW anyway :p

oh, i though it was for like snowy conditions or something. so then power brings it up the revs then yeah?

its for snowy or icy conditions and in a manual car be like taking off in second gear in snow/ice to to reduce chances of wheel spin.

so davelegacy is it just like a traction control switch then??when i put it in hold position a snow flake light comes up on the dash!

no traction control systems work different and electronically through sensors...

this is like taking of in second gear in a manual car...

As above. "hold" will start you off in second gear so it makes it very slow to take off when driving normally! You should never really have to use the hold function!
Also don't leave her in drive while stopped in traffic for long periods as you could damage your torque coverter.
The power function makes her drop a gear faster and at lower speeds and then lets her rev out more! eg. when driving along with gearstick at "3" 3rd gear at say 80 kph and 3000rpm, with gear box in normal mode, If you floor it she'll stay in 3rd gear and pull from 3000 rpm with out dropping a gear! But with power mode when you floor it she'll have dropped a gear while the turbo spools and take off in 2nd gear at 4500rpm! Try it!! Speeds and rpms are guesses but are close enough!
