Petrol Cap doesnt open!!

Cant see whats wrong with it
Everytime i need to fill up i gotta get down on one knee, pull the handle beside the seat with one hand and open the fuel cap with the other :lol:

Any suggestions??
I'm thinking its a spring or sumthing? :dunno:

Cut a bit of sponge same size as filler cap stick it in and shut when you pull the latch it will open jobs oxo
