Ej208 99 legacy b4 looking for info.

Middle Lane Hogs
I'm Thinking of buying another ej208 for my b4. I'd like to forge it up and do a few things. Up rated turbos ? Ecu maps etc. fuel pump.
any ideas? I'd like to be heading for 350 brake. Looking to build an engine that will last. How are the gearboxes rated for 350 brake.

Ta

Its not the best base car at all.

A forged 2.5 with STi 5/6 cams on the B4 heads.

And vf 32 and vf33 from rev d.

If budget allows can td04 convert these turbos.

But all very expensive.

If want to stay in B4 Shell imo be feed a new age STi engine loom into a rev d.

And transfer and run all that single turbo set up.

Thanks Dave. When ya say it's not the best base car. Is that because of the ej208 engine?

Any twin turbo engine for a power base in excess of 330bhp is too costly and best switch to single.

95% of single turbo B4 conversions are half arsed and abanded.

Imo a revd and as said new age sti loom fed in. Then have avcs single turbo engine. Nice quick power. If budget allows go 6 speed also and run r160 3.54 or 3.9 diff to save hassle on rear end. Sorted.

But as feeding basically the front half of a new age sti into the legacy. It would be a project where you a choosing by choice this shell style if you get me.

Scoop be restrictive if running/staying tmic.

If going FMIC then one for new age sti will fit fine with possible tiny mod to pipework at core point.

A lad on Uklegacy got 450 with the twin set up but he spent an absolute fortune and it still wasn't right....just not worth the hassle

I might just take yer advice then. Ill keep it standard and keep it right.

Maybe a silly question for ye, but is their any uprated bearings i can get for the crank or just standard ones.

I know that , oil pressure /starvation will kill bearings , I' m assuming this lad will be replacing oil pump

All in vein though if excessive sealer, bad prep etc etc

Would you recommend to change modine even if no bearing failure? I changed mine just to be safe when building mine
Yeah have to be so careful with the sealer

Sorry no. Missed that bit. If its the original engine that looks like it was never apart for rebuild or head gasket etc and know its history then no need to change it as part of a refresh.

If its a car was purchased and any sign of previous rebuild or been apart and no history then 110% change.

Dave

Thanks for the replys lads.

So I should stick the following in the budget
Aci race bearings
Conrod piston big end check by someone reputable
Oil modine (never heard of these. Are these standard on the b4s?)
Oil filter.
Oil pump
All new gaskets.
And check heads cams and valves whiles it's open.

Be worth it though.
I could buy an engine with a knock already in it? And do the above to it? Using my b4 as a daily at moment.
