Wat wheels for 2 door scooby

Hi lads
Need a bit of expert guidance please??
Wud 8 X 18 wheels go on a 2 door scoob without too much hassle??
Was planning on usin 215/25R18 tyres wit em?
 
18's are too big for classic. Messes with the handling and can rub badly unless running them with rubber bands.

They aslo tend to put a strain on wheel bearings which are a known weak spot on classics too.

I wouldn't go bigger than 17's.
 
8.5 would be too wide unless you are after the US style wide rim look... but that would probably involve also fitting arch extensions and possibly spacers to avoid scuffing on the dampers.. both of which I'd advice not to do. Drilling a nice 2 door shell to fit arches is in my mind sacrilegious!
