Airbag warning light

My airbag warning light has suddenly lit up on my dash and wont go off. Has this happened to anybody else before and if so how did you sort it and anybody any ideas on what could be wrong?
 
try slaming the hood of the car if that knocks it off then its a loose connection

but

you need to get it looked at by a mechanic, as far as i know the airbag will not work in an accident if the warning light is on

On some cars the airbag light comes on after a few years to let you know the SRS needs a service maybe this is the case

Not true my friend punched the dash of a 96 Megane and the airbag came out!! rephrased to "THEY DON'T WORK PROPERLY AFTER 5-6 YEARS" :D
 
Thats a bit of a joke. WOuld the sensor need to be replaced then to fix the problem? No point in having an airbag if it wont work properly
