I did a job on the missus' wheels during the week. They were polished and lacquered but were chipped badly. I stripped the lacquer off and hand polished them to a mirror finish . I'm just wondering if they will stay like this without lacquer or has anyone tried this with wheels? The inner part of the spokes in painted grey and is in good shape,otherwise I'd have just painted them completely.

They will corrode without laquer.

nice job lad, ya must have some patience to do that by hand, did ya have to do all four, as rob said though i'd say ya'd need to laquer or they'll go again

as above laquer them its not that hard. get 2 rattle cans of it and spray them not that hard

Yes I had to do all four .I cannot see how regular lacquer will stick to bare alloy.If we're painting in the body shop we would etch prime it first.Also the lacquer that came off the wheels was serious stuff,really thick and tough.I can't imagine getting the tyres fitted and not chipping ordinary 2K.
