Type R question

what kind of work would you need to do to a 98 type R to get it over the 400 bhp mark.. I'm guessing bigger turbo, intercooler etc

Quite a bit inc turbo , fuel system , clutch plus alot more. For OVER 400 id suggest uprated internals if you want it to be reliable. There a two members here who just done 2.5 Litre builds for not to much money ( well... considering what the blocks will handle) and they have everything in place. One is running a 20g but if he swapped turbo the block itself will do well over 400, Only issue then is your drivetrain. Gearbox may not last long and you would need a decent clutch aswell.

Im just finnished my own 2.5 Litre car which only has a TD05-20g on it at the moment so wont make over 400bhp. In saying that there was two 20g turbos that I know of that made over 400 in the UK so yi never know. Really a Garrett core is needed to go over 400.
