Petrolheads
I have just got a new clutch for my 2003 legacy bl5 as it started slipping and now subaru have told me i need a new fly wheel .... i read up on another forum that i could use a single mass fly wheel instead of a dual mass but there saying the clutch they got needs a dual mass that a single mass wount work with it they want 1000 euro for a fly wheel alone .... has anyone got any ideas? and know where i could get something cheaper .......

I have a flywheel there to suit you would need it skimmed and a new spigot bearing

Yeah the only impreza model that the 2003+ legacy have any common parts with is the 08+ impreza's, it can make it a pain in the ass to source parts. Best to switch to single mass setup, much nice to drive.

I read your posts on another forum I rang Subaru and said a bout single mass but they said it wount work with my clutch they got something about a spring it needs to be dual mass ??

dont bother with subaru they are useless unless u give them the exact part number you want to order, but you will probably need a new clutch if you are going to change the flywheel to singlemass as the are usually a different diameter

yeah usually the dual mass flywheel last the life of the clutch, since it cant be skimmed like a single mass and re-used, i had the same thing with mine, except the new clutch and old flywheel didn't get along and fucked each other up so i need whole new clutch kit and flywheel. every day is a school day with these legacy's, im glad i have already experienced most of the problems already and shouldnt have to deal with them again!

Sure is thanks for the info might try get my hands on a used fly wheel and go for a single fly wheel and clutch next year .
