Toyota avensis petrol engine query?

Hi lads,
Has anyone here any knowledge of toyota's? Do you know if a 2004 2.0 petrol avensis engine has a timing belt or chain? Most things I see online suggest chain?
Also anyone know a good mechanic near lucan they would recommend to work on an avensis?

As far as i know its a chain. I had 02 old shape one but think its the same vvti engine,
Got my belt done a while ago in toyota mc Cabes drogheda.

Nice one, belt snapped at the side that feeds power steering, alternator etc and now car is not starting!

that belt turns alternator that charges the battery. Once your battery is not flat the belt should have no impact on starting, you may have flattened the battery by having the car running while belt is off. be careful if you do start it though not to leave running for too long without the belt as i think the waterpump is on that belt also.
