Sports cat down pipe

Getting one fitted at the moment.
2nd hand prodrive sports cat downpipe, and prodrive cat delete center section.
Got it off a dealer on ebay, had to bid on it.
Bought it last year but held off putting it on till I was getting the car mapped.
Not cheap but hope to pass nct without putting cats on and off.
Decat would be less restrictive but I hope to get a happy medium with bhp figures.
Also think it depends on amount of cells in the sports cat.

getting mine fitted next week , along with the secondary cat delete , as said above by Mark really . dont want the pain of changing the downpipe every nct ,

I hear you lads im the exact same dnt want the hassle of changing out bits at nct time and to will be happy with a medium bhp increase with remap as any wrx isnt exactly slow.

Markokavo let me know how remap goes after install are you swapin out the cat up pipe too as i heard 1 sports cat will do the job at nct time but it depends on how many cell it is one on scoobyworld is a ninja and i beleve its failing emmisions but the cobra sports cat is 200 cell and that passes no issue have u heard this too i wonder what cell ur prodrive one is ..

im thinkin of getting the afterburner up pipe and cobra sports cat down pipe what is the other section i need to delete the car nearest the back box called

tommy u gettin urs maped after if so let me know as above..

Cheers

i believe the prodrive sports cat is a 200 cell unit , i think the scoobyworld one is a 100 cell and wont pass , think they even say this on their site , reason i went with the prodrive one was it was part of the ppp package which was road legal and met the emmissions regs ,that and the price for the Miltek sports cat , i,m getting my car ready for mapping over the next few weeks , dont drive it during the week so wont be driving around unmapped for the mods

How long do you guys think the after market sports cats last for? Good garages/ mechanics reckon that the universal weld in cats you get in motor factors are only good for about one Nct. And I'd imagine the same quality is in the aftermarket sports cats.
Tommy you had mentioned in another thread about pops and bangs on the overrun, don't think the sports cat will like that too much :)

The ones that come with the ppp obviously work for a long time as they are on cars from 99 onwards and are still working now, I haven't heard of any giving trouble but I could be wrong. The weld in ones I don't know or even heard of them but I have an after market sports cat in my car and it has passed the nct twice already and it wasn't new when I got it so it can't be that bad.

On the pops and backs it should be ok, just but I wouldn't be running anti lag with one

i'd imagine you have a point ken but i would agree with Johnny about the prodrive ones been built to last , if you look at the cost of say a japspeed versus a miltek you could more than likely guess the miltek will keep working the longest ,

tbh if the sports cat shits its self its no worse than the oem cats that failed for no real reason on my own car , i'd rather throw in a sports cat purely because as the car gets older and needs ncting every year i'd rather not to have to swap a decat for a cat , its cost also it will wear the threads on the bolts and obviously they will need replacing also ,

good and bad points to both sports and decat options , personal choice really

any idea how much a ppp sports cat can they still be bought id buy into there toughness too does it remove both cats or do i need another section of pipe (whats it called) im thinkin of a cobra decat uppipe as ive heard

it will fly the nct with only one good 200 cell sports cat in is this true?

Cheers..

prodrive sports cat removes primary cat in the downpipe section , you then need a secondary cat removal pipe , make sure to buy one for a 2.0 as the 2.5 is different ,

keep an eye on scoobynet and specialist breakers for the sports cat , can be got for 100 quid second hand and simular for a new secondary cat pipe ,

this is a full diagram so you can see the make up of the exhaust on your car

cool so i need a sports cat down pipe and straight through mid pipe?
if u were me (i know the sti ant got one)
would u de cat the up pipe too?
loads of horror stories of the cat breaking up and f@#king the turbo also more power..

yup , it'd be gone without a second thought , wouldnt take a risk of the cat breaking up in future and fooking the turbo , sports cat should do the job on the emissions once warmed up !

Thats what i thought alright id only be happy with a new one though now starts the fact findind to see which is good buy ive emailed prodrive id say it will be expensive

tks for help

Dont expect an answer from Prodrive man , they don't sell any subaru gear any more from what ive been told , and anyway you would probably get a miltek sportscat and cat back for the price Prodrive would charge ,

If going new, the cost difference between decat and sports cat is huge. You could pay for the decat to be changed 3-4 times to make up the difference which will probably be about the life of the sports cat anyway.

Also remember the 100cel needs to be roasting hot going through the nct to pass so if the tester is taking his time or the car is sitting ouside for any length of time, then you may forget about it passing.
