Well lads would anyone be able to help me

I thought there was something wrong with the thermostat and when I was changing it there wasn't one in my car and since I put one in the car it's starting to boil over but it wasn't boiling over when there wasn't one in it

The car is a 95 wrx impreza
 
Technically you don't need one but did you put it in the right way round?
 
Are you using coolant and NOT water?

Could there be an airlock?
 
There is a small mesh in one of the pipes on the header tank this could be blocked,

happened to my yoke i removed it and was perfect afterwards.
