replacing gear knob & gator

hi guys i have a 02 b4 and the gear knob & gator are a little tatty i have bought new but i seem to have trouble in removing the gear knob to get old gator off to replace any help i would be very great full

You keep twisting it for ages and then it just needs a good yank. You have to persist with it even if you think that you have twisted it enough. There is a clip on you tube also

tnx axelf it would be good if i could post a pic of exact gear knob but for some reason i cant but i will try and find it on you tube i have looked but no video of my 1 anywhere if you have the link it would be good tnx or if ya could email me you email i can show you a pic
