whining gear box :-(

Alright lads, got good news!! Fecking whining coming from my gearbox. My mechanic says it will be a MIN of 750 to reconditioned, various bearings, an 300 to fit. Batru breakers have a 2002 gearbox for 350,
Will it fit my 2000 legacy B4?
Should I go for reconditioned?
Or from barru breakers?
Any opinions are welcome :-(
 
ali burrows is great for rebuilding boxes,i stand to be corrected but if your box is similar to the classic uk box the centre diff prob sh*t itself,or you could go to the likes of naas gearbox or boharnabreena i dont know where you're based so which ever is closest to you both have decent reputations
 
Fresh 5 speed out of a newage wrx with matching rear diff would be cheapest option while still retaining relability probably.
