5th gear has suddenly stopped engaging in my B4 Legacy. It has never caused a spot of bother or never crunched whats so ever. The problem just occured all of a sudden.
When the car is moving and I try to shift in to 5th, It wont make any effort to engage.
When the car is not moving, I can feel it make a tinyeffort to engage, but when I lift the clutch it just pops back.
When the car is switched off, it still wont engage.
Anyone have this problem before or know what could be the cause?
I suspect its a selector fork, as if it was a damaged synchro ring or gear it would be acting up for some time. I also presume if it was anything other then the selector forks, 5th would make some effort to engage when the car is switched off. But im far from a gearbox expert.
So anyone got any ideas?
