Knock sensor question ?

scooby.grrr

Sunday Drivers
I have a engine warning light coming on and off I checked everything myself and all seems to be ok.
I taught it might be the battery it's same one for 2 yrs now. The car is cutting out if I don't keep the revs up any ideas on what's wrong could it have anything to do with the new turbosmart dump valve that I fitted a few weeks ago. Could the knock sensor have anything to do with the car cutting out?

Heard of dump valves causing issues like you've said if they leak. Try go back to standard and see if it still happens. If its cutting out then it sounds like a maf problem but these may be he symptoms caused by the leaking throwing the sensors off

Definetely not a knock sensor, could be as robbie said the dump valve leaking because unmetered air is getting in to the inlet that the maf has not picked up

What should I check on the dump valve I could hear a hissing noise now come to think of it.

Idle , you know when the engine is running while out of gear and stationary. The engine should idle just under 1000rpm, B4 legacy's would idle lower than impreza's

How do you adjust the idle ? Can I do it myself?
[/quote]

What car is it?
You cant really adjust it no it controlled by the ecu, If the car is cutting and you have an engine light then you have a problem .This link will show you how to read the fault codes

And this is the explaination of the code numbers

Yep light on and off car 00 wrx Sti type-r

All info is in those links above to fault find

had same happening to me, got one of those cheap ones, rev's was low, reversing was a nightmare as the engine would cut off, then Nick in Couture noticed that the dump valve not closing proparly so changed dump valve now working not a bother.... :icon_biggrin:

I am going to check the air sensor unit the one connected at the air box and see if it's black on the mirror was told this is the problem .
