ATTN: Forum Only Members - Full Membership Query

Hi guys,

This is a general question to members of the forum who are not currently members of the Club itself as we are looking for some feedback and info as we will be opening membership for 2012 in the next while.

Basically, what are your reasons for not becoming a full member of the ISDC?

Is it the €50 fee which is charged to become a full member? If so, would a reduction in the membership fee entice you to join?

Is it the fact that the benefits of becoming a member aren't advertised well enough? By which i mean, membership packs, club event subsidies, members section, projects, etc..

Or are you purely just not interested in being part of a club and attending meets?

Feedback most welcome

I work nights so always find it hard to commit to events. Plus hardly anything happens down muster direction. A drop in the membership fee would be tempting alright. I used to be in the capri club, it was €30 at the time(2006) and the biggest benefit was cheap insurance with Carol nash. I hope this helps.

I was a full member 2009+2010...sold the forester+had a celica so didnt join 2011.Now have a B4 legacy and hope to join 2012.Lost my job almost 1 year ago,so all luxuries are gone, lucky to put petrol in it at the mo,leave it so for tax !!
I think membership is €50 well spent, but a drop in price would definitely see more full members.
Lots of people in the same situation,so PRICE DROP until country picks up.
Just my opinion-Dave.

thats a great idea with the insurance do you think it could be arranged for the club or will we all be classsed as boy racers because its subarus we drive and not be interested in covering us...ive trade insurance so wouldnt benifit me personally but may suit others????????

this wont happen, we have try it and no one will do it for lots of reasons, most people in the club have had there insurance gone up this year so i cant see an insurance company doing it for less.
its different on a capri or any old vintage or classic car because there weekend cars that are not driving quick and very rarely stolen.

taught as much johnny just shows how backward irreland is again as for example in the uk there are companys that specialise in high performance cars and modded

Yeah i know there is a massive difference between a Subaru and a Capri, so yeah figure insurance deals will be out of the question alright. Just mentioned it as it as an incentive example. Can anyone tell me honestly what are the real benefits of joining, what exactly do i get for €50 :dontknow: ? Besides being able to put up an avatar and pm one another, do ye even get a window sticker? Just think if the fee was dropped to €30/35 maybe it would be more incentive for people, and maybe even try to appeal to more people?? I see alot of young fellas under 20 wearing subaru jackets and such, is there a market there? i know they dont have cars but maybe welcome them to events, sit in cars, spins(not sure about that one) txt alerts, emails to inform members who may not have time to browse the forum?? Maybe have different types of membership to suit peoples financial situations?? Just thinking out loud really, and just finished a 12 hour night shift so off to bed now!!!

€50 is a lot of money to pay out for full membership for lads that don't attend subsidised events or meets. There should be a membership option for the use of the clubs based web facilities including the members section. Its available for overseas members so Why not members in Ireland that want to use the full forum only?

full membership was great when i had the car only the events were too far away, cost too much to get up and down,
didnt get enough for the membership down the south, but thats not yer fault the meets were too small to pull off

Just to put It out there I didn't get to any events this year bar the trackday in mondello, full members got a 50 euro sub that day. So basically even though I was not a very active member for one reason or another I still got my money back on that one event

i fully understand were your coming from but from the club point of view nobody from the south put there name forward for the commitee so you can understand why myself been from dublin would not organise an event in the south which would take 3 hrs drive to get to.

we need someone from the south to stand up and say ill look after the south by arranging monthly meets an the ocasional big national meet.

wagon dec has done this for the midlands this year and has worked out very well with one national event and plenty of monthly meets that have now got a good number attending these events

i can see your point but this is a "drivers club" its not a forum like facebook or the likes. why would people want the use of the full forum if not interested in going to events???

what you get for your 50 euro is
use of full club forum
members pack which includes isdc strickers
subs to nearly all events (this is the major one for e.g.
what i did this year.

50euro membership
1st round of the karting championship in kilkenny was subbed by 20 euro
2nd round in navan subbed by 20 euro
3rd rd in co,louth ubbed by 20euro
track day subbed by 50 euro
b&q was free(food for the day, great company, plenty of subaru's, bouncy castles for the kids)
rolling road day subbed by 10 euro but one of are traders is doing a great deal so youll actual say 50 euro on the cost of it all.

so besides doing some great events and having a ball i've saved myself alot of money.

In response to that Duffman, I don't get to events often because of work commitments etc
I wasn't going to pay 50 euro this year just to read the forum!!!
I'd love to be in a position to use the full forum and still not go to meets etc!!!
I'd want the full access to tea about people's projects etc…

If there was this kinda option some people in the same position might jump at it aswell!!!

I dont get to any events due to football and distance etc but I dont mind paying the €50. Its a euro a week and less than a tank of petrol and if you have a problem someone will have an idea how to fix it so it saves on bringing the car to the garage. You wouldnt get too far on €50 on a night out !

Its one of the things I was worried about, which is why i put it in the first post. And its people who have never been members just don't know what they get for their €50. Well this year, for €50 you get:

Membership pack:
2011 Full Member Window Sticker
2011 Yearbook
Black ISDC Tax Disc Holder
ISDC Keyring
ISDC Car Air Freshners (x2)
ISDC Pen

You also got the club subsidies for the following events:

Karting - Kiltorcan - €20 subsidy
Karting - Athboy - €20 subsidy
Karting - Whiteriver - €20 subsidy
Family BBQ - Completely free, including grub and entrance to all the activities
Trackday - €50 subsidy with free lunch
Rolling Road Day - €10 club subsidy with another €40 off per person from a club trader

Total savings of €160 plus a free day out at the BBQ.

Thats to go along with all the other events organised throughout the year as well.

We will be looking for volunteers to help out organising regional meets in the west and south east as well. Wagon dec is organising monthly meets in the midlands which have proved very popular so we want to do this in other areas too. That way there's plenty of events that everyone can attend. But it can't be done without the member's volunteering to look after it. Like, I can't organise a galway meet from Dublin, nor can anyone else. It only takes 15mins or less to organise a local meet so surely people will be willing to sacrifice that minimal amount of time for the benefit of all

lads even if your not into meets bbq alone is worth the membership fee was great day out and the kids loved it

I hope to join in 2012. I suppose for myself the main factor is with saving for a wedding etc the cars taken a back seat in terms of improvements and i find it slow and standard compared to most of the club members cars, and to other imprezas i've had. I've been trying to put aside cash for a remap and brembos since i bought the car a year and a half ago

I know a club environment isnt about whose car is best, who has what parts but i would imagine more than just myself would feel there car isnt to a standard to bring to meets, and i dont know how active the members section of the site is to justify membership alone.

What about a new form of membership for people who want FULL access to the forum (Members section, PMs, avatars etc etc) but can't make meets or events for whatever reason?

Full Membership (as been currently offered).....€50 (or possible reduction if thats what people want)

and

Part or Forum Membership ....€10/€20????

If on the off chance a Part or Forum Member only, attends a meet or event then they must understand they are not subbed by the club for that event or meet.

Don't we also have Over-seas Membership too?

3 forms of membership should keep everybody happy????
