cant change my avatar to a new photo it's being resized so it's small enough any mods out there help please

Its showing up as a red x now at the moment and to the best of my knowledge, that means its probably still too big.

i cant even reload my old one now all i'm getting is the red x

I lost mine to when I tried to upload a new one. Well it's one I used before so should still work.
