Hi,

anyone an ignition coil for an 98 Impreza Turbo 2l for sale?
I come and collect it.

Hi Dave,

I do in deed. But this is already obsolete.
I was at McKeever today and had the chance to test a different coil. I also have changed the Lamda sensor.

The reason why I was asking was, that I still had the cut offs. I have thought about all the issues I see and decided to reduce the boost pressure.
Guess what, I can go up to 1.1 bar max and have no cut offs anymode. Obviously the garage, who has done the chipping, has done a poor job.

I was told that they have re-mapped the boost to 1.3 aqnd based on this I adjusted the boost pressure.
The only thing I don't understand is, that this only comes up randomly. Sometimes I had no problems at all over the whole day and sometimes I can't drive properly and the overboost kicks in.

Do you know by any chance the default overboost cutoff point on an Impreza?

I also have the feeling that the car is not accelerating normally. It feels a bit tired. I miss the byte when giving full throttle.
Maybe you have another idea?

Let me know. I am happy about any idea.

Cheers

Axel

think its 1.15 BAR off hand and fuel cut at 4500 revs comes in.......

wat garage has givin you this chip and sent you off at 1.3 BAR with this happening?

Was done in Mc Namaras Carburation and Injection Center.
Do you know them?

i do indeed.......

problem here is that this is a piggy back ecu by superchips.......

basically you take a car boosting 0.9 BAR  and RAISE BOOST TO 1.15 bar....

Your car will boost cut but this piggy back chip allows to override the cut........

So your boosting 1.15bar with the fueling for 0.9 bar.......

So that in easy terms equals melted piston.........

They told me different.
They mentioned exactly the same problem with rising the boost cutoff point without rising the fuel injection.

Superchips supposed to rise the boost cutoff point and the fuel amount. I am not sure if that is right, but that is waht they told me.

Been there 6 years ago...........

YES 6 YEARS AGO on single turbo legacy......

uk and melted piston cause of it.......

Its a widespread no no...........

you'll never find an impreza using this.........

advise a refund if possible.......

Maybe we are talking about two different Superchips.
There is an American company selling superchips which is the piggy back version and the UK Superchips which I have.
This one is an external chip connected into the loom going to the ECU.
As far as I understood them, they simply manipulate the readings from the sensors and overwrite the data to change the fuel and boost setup.

Please have a look here: http://www.superchips.co.uk/benefits.php
I understand that they do not just rise the turbo boost.

Am I missing something or are they just bull***ing?

Sorry when I bother you again, but I never will get a refund now.

Thanks a lot guys
