Wheels advice

Looking for some advice here, I'm having trouble with rubbing on the rear of my STI6 - I have 18 inch Speedlines fitted with 225/35 rubber, and then lowered on tein s tech springs - bad mix I know. The offset on the wheels are 53 or 55, not sure which.
Its seemingly impossible to get any company to roll the arches, and from reading about it there are many problems anyway, ie. cracked paint & stripping away rust-proof layer etc.
Can anyone tell me whether changing the tyres to 215/35 would solve the problem completely or am I still gonna have some rubbing when people are in the back?

changing to 215 should solve your problem..

but some makes of tyres come with a rim protection layer..

try get without it to sort it out....

As Dave said above, but make sure of your wheel size-most18" Speedlines are 18"x 8"and in relation to 35 profile we just don't have the roads for them also you would be looking at some serious handling problems-best option move back to a 17"

Cheers for the advice lads, I love the look of the 18's though and couldn't afford to go out and buy new 17's with tyres.
Dave would 215 tyres not fit on an 8" wheel?

Have just found out that Carnoisseur in Ballymena have a specialist that comes every Friday to roll wheel arches, at 30sterling an arch. I only need the rears done.
However the guy on the phone said there is only limited scope for rolling arches on the Impreza's so if the wheel & tyre combinations were wrong they probably wouldn't be able to make sufficient space.
With an offset of 53 or 55 and 225 tyres am I wasting my time taking a Friday off to travel up?

The wheels you have on your car a 8 x 18 and you won't stop the rubbing as you'll have to go to small with your tyre and you'll keep damaging your side walls as a result.

not sounding too good then for me, damo 35's already on when I got it so I don't know any better

Ah right, I couldent live with myself to be honest. 18s look great but as said above has to be 17s on a classic for me.
