hi lads i fitted a new stereo other day and very annoying after tuning all the channels etc when i turn off the ignition and start it again i have to set it every time.is it a easy job to wire it direct or anybody recccomend somewhere to get it done

Spot on lad-both have a split on them anyway-20 second job.
 
yes i x connected red and yellow it just made a sound like the cd part got power but it would not turn on.
 
Because you have to connect them both.

One has to be connected to constant power as said above, so your unit wouldn't loose its memory everytime you turn the ignition off. The other one is usually supposed to be connected to ignition source, so it would go off when you stop the engine and turn the ignition off.

From what you said I presume you have connected both to ignition, that's why its loosing the memory every time you turn the ignition off.
You will need to find another wire with constant power ;)
