01 sti fuel leak

first problem with the new car petrol leak its getting into the cab popped the bonnet and its very strong smell round the alternator is there a flexi fuel pipe under the manifold that goes hard and leaks?
i know when i worked for mercedes trucks the v6 diesel engines the fuel lines between the two banks would go hard from the heat maybe the boxer is the same?
dont need my new car turning into a fire ball
any comon faults?
going to remove the altenator tomoro and have a look under the manifold might shed some light

maybe a good time to upgrade to some braided fuel lines while your fixing the issue!!!!!

one of the other mechanics in my job had the same problem with his v4 wrx and still has some spare flexi fuel pipe
so will have a crack at it at the weekend
