Apexi afc controller in jdm classic Q's ? (pics Incl)

have one of these installed in my 1995 wrx jdm import impreza gc8c 260ps,
just wondering what it does all,what is it all about
and what does the pot control?set to 6 at present?
told it was set up by prev owner,car is running a Z4 ecu,boost peak 0.9bar,
car seems to run perfect,hold boost well,no missing,
progressive power,running ever so slighly rich to be safe it seems and she lets thee odd backfire pop during gearchange..
very happy with the way it drives and puts power down,
curiousitly?

Found this.

Could be a newer or older version but think it explains what it does. Seems to be a piggy back system for the standard ECU

There is a part number / model code or a serial number on your unit stick it into Google with apex AFC and should tell you all about your unit model afc.
