knock

lads what exactly is knock i was told my knock sensor with apexi which ive seen a few times is the cel light early in the morning when i give it sox sometimes,what does it mean,thanks

Engine knock or detonation is when the knock sensor detects if your air/fuel mixture is combusting too quickly ie the piston is still travelling when combustion occurs. The knock sensor will read this, transfer it into voltage terms and send it to the ecu, here the ecu will adjust the ignition timing to the engine.

Is your car mapped for Irish fuel? Try using some octane booster, this should help reduce detonation

Also try using Maxol E5 petrol instead,97Ron instead of 95Ron in most other garages. Supposed to be higher Octane so less prone to causing 'knock'.
