Dies off

Car starts and drives fine until it hits 2500rpm then it just feels like its suddenly towing a bus. I can feel the car pullin away then when it hits 2500rpm theres a very noticable jerk as it looses acceleration. its only a 1.5 but surely there should be a steady drop off instead of the jerk no?
no warning lights come on on the dash or anything.
Only serviced it about a month ago by a subaru dealer.
