Directional tyres and spare wheel

you know how paranoid factory manual (in a forester anyway) is about having all four tyres of the 100% same specs (including the spare one which is a kind of difficult to assure seeing the progressive thread wear on driving tyres). So what is the story with directional tyres? In particular if one is unfortunate enough to get puncture on the "wrong side"? Can one just get on with it and treat it as "temporary spare" and drive at say no more than 80km/h to the nearest shop to have it soretd?
