hey lads quick question for ya
i have a 96 wrx v limited and........
bout 3 weeks ago had front crank oil leak so fitted new one and all was fine till today on way home stopped in traffic and puff of smoke came from engine bay so pulled over and sure enough its leaking again from crank oil seal any one got any ideas how ta stop this happening again as i used proper subaru seal and fit it where it looked right but didnt drive it home till it stopped just in past flush with front face of block ie exactly where the other one was....
cheers

also who would be cheap and good ta get ta look at it cos i prob gonna have ta park it till i get money if it gonna be dear but dont wanna put another seal in myself if it gonna leak again in another 3 weeks

deffo didn damage it but might not have put it in far enough as im not sure how far in its supposed ta be but i thought it would have leaked before now if it was fitted wrong

yea u prob right... Any body know weather im supposed ta send the seal in untill it wont go any further or how far in is it supposed ta go

new seal fitted sent it in twice as far as the last one as last one got fooked by the pully as wasn in far enough... gotta wait till morning now and just fire it up 2 late ow as babys in bed and car right under her window.... hopefully this seal will outlast the last one

well my day aint going 2 good... Pulled into work this morning and seals leaking again. Its the main seal on the front of crankshaft so deffo not just seal in wrong any one know whats gonna need replacing ta stop this from happening again. Should i just locktight in a new seal.

Bad luck alrite, hopefully fitting the oil pump will then be
the end of your oil leaking problems.

Look at bright side, at least you didnt drive her with no oil and looking at needing a new engine.
A new oil pump is no harm to do, even if it wasnt leaking, might be best get a mechanic to do it do

im a (bus)mechanic my self so its nobother ta do it only took me an hour ta do the last seal i put in cheers for info

You might aswell gear urself up now when your going this far and do your timing belt and idler aswell, maybe waterpump aswell depending on when they were last changed

yea gonna throw tensioners pumps belts pulleys the whole lot at it but gonna park it till x mas id say save some cash really only want it ready for may/june so i can head ta the ring in it...
