Is there any down side to using these? Looking to buy a set just to be on the safe side when I put my other wheels on.

Does the hub have to come off to fit them or can they be fitted handy enough?

Hub doesn't have to come off but you will be hammering for hours... Be careful of the abs ring when doing it in case it gets damaged... Make sure the extended wheel studs have a high tensile strenght, where are you getting them?

wheel studs should be pressed back in again, added H&R studs to my old blob eye and just hammered them home and they came loose for a fortnight after, torqued them up every night just to be safe.

as already said, be very careful of the abs ring as they are quite expensive to replace.
