Lads,

Looking for a new or 2nd hand (Must be in good condition) radiator for a 1997 Impreza WRX - looks like mine is leaking. Anyone know someone who stocks these locally - otherwise I'll be ordering one in from the UK.

Thanks lads.

Dave Legacy got me one when I was getting my wagon built up. Not sure if he can get them anymore but worth giving him a shout or sending him a PM. He seems to be a boy that can get most Subaru parts so def worth giving him a shout.

Cheers Yogi - dropped him a PM.

I called Subaru (HB Dennis) - new radiator + VAT, fitted - looking at about €600. If anyone else has any ideas - please let me know. Stuck without a car. :wall:

steve, dont buy second hand, these rads go all the time, mine is leakin to and im on the look out for one,the alliminium ones are good as they dont have any plastic bits on them and give better cooling but there 300 euro off ebay,gt preformance is gettin some in and he told me they would be 320 euro but cant say when they will be in,my friend in artane autos is looking up some as we speak for me,so keep in touch with what you find

€600 is silly money. Should cost in the region of €300, maybe even less if you get a good deal.

Is that €300 fitted...??

A brand new radiator alone, with all the clips, screws, etc., is €320 - fitting will take about 2 hours (€100/hour labour) = €520 + VAT. It is a genuine Subaru radiator - I've confirmed this with the parts department. I don't want to go second hand - brand new is the only way for me.

If I don't find anything in the next couple days - I'm going to have to go with this I'm affraid. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet - rather than letting it take your head off. :(

Why dont you fit the rad yourself and save the labour? It cant be that hard to do can it?

It doesn't have to be a genuine Subaru one. Get a decent spurious one and it'll save you a few bob. They do the same thing.

I'll see what make my one is later and get back onto you tomorrow. Seems a decent enough job.

Try rad services 018740626 to supply and It's a handy DIY job, just make sure you bleed the system through well. Maybe a bit of expert supervision would be sencible considering if you do it wrong it could kill your engine!!
Best of luck with it eitherway,
Dan

:)just reading through this thread dan is right any decent rad specialist in your area should be able to
help you ,may just need core . if buying on net ,rads can get damaged very easily in transit if they are not protected
properly, also you could be buying someone elses problem
if you are in dublin area and rad services cant help i may have some numbers if you need them

Happy days....

Where did you get sorted? - just to help out other people in you situation in the future.

Thanks to 555-Scooby (Alan) .  He helped me (I assisted him where possible) fit the new rad and new lambda sensor.  No more high temp and water leaks - no more stutter, missing - seems it was a faulty lambda sensor.  :D  Car is driving MUCH better.

Now for plugs, oill change and fuel filter on Saturday.  :D

Cheers Alan.   :D
