B4 Boosting only 0.5 bar

Hi,

I was looking around but could not find a solution to my problem.

I have a 2000 Legacy B4, no modifications.
Since today I noticed that I'm not hitting full boost anymore (staying at 0.5 bar, jumping to .6bar) on both turbos.

All I did since it was running fine, is that I removed the intake resonator.
Also fiddled with the gearbox dipstick. (i heard there is something there that can be caught up?)

Also my tank is halfway now, using E5 with 1/3 bottle NF booster to full tank.

Before the car was boosting ~1bar on both turbos.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Could be it went into "safe" mode while running lower octane fuel.... put more booster in.. disconnect the battery for 10 minutes see if that helps

I this how I can reset the ECU?
 
Any check engine light coming on?

Legacy boosting problems are head wrecking.

No, there weren't any check lights coming on.
It felt like only the second turbo was boosting full.

I reset the ECU, and poured 50ml of NF to the half tank.
Tomorrow I'm going early to the shops. I'll see then if it feels better.
I'll keep a good eye on those check lights!

It's only a stop gap solution but...your car should not be going into safe with E5 alone never mind having nf added...I would get a diagnostic done on the sensors
 
Long shot but removal of the resonator box could have messed with the airflow and caused a boost spike causing it to go into safe mode.
 
are legacys not only sposed to boast to about 0.5 on secondary and 0.6 on primary turbo when standard?, surely not 1 bar :ponder2: mine wasnt anyway.

eh, no mate.. 0.5 is very low.. did you not think it was a bit underpowered?

Is that standard, or did you up the boost?
That must sound like an wild animal!
 
it was set at .6 and 1.0 until it got a rebuild and remap by bob rawle @Stituning ,
its goes like sh1t off a shovel in fairness to her , and the feeling of power in third gear when she hits peak boost is savage . when i let off the throttle the nose of the car dips about 8 inches .... its gas

That sounds about right. My old Legacy was mapped 1BAR and 1.4BAR.
 
mine was mapped for 0.7 and 1.0 but was sure ive lost some along the way, When getting a new clutch last year, after the car was put back together, an oil leak from the oil seal where the ( my terms) bar that turns the wheel enters the gear box (front right). It was only small but since i got it fixed last week the car feels faster, especially when boosting. to be honest its like a brand new car mate. dont know if this helps but i had about half boost and low power under 2500 revs and even boost failure. Guy who fixed said it affects everythin!! ignore if stupid :icon_redface:
