Reverse light only coming on halfway in gear

Jaak

Petrolheads
Hi,
I found a weird thing with the B4 today.

When putting the car in reverse gear (manual), only when I get the gear halfway in reverse then the beeping and reverse light comes on.
When the gear is fully engaged the light doesn't come on.

I think that the switch might have moved from the original position.
Could I get to the switch just by removing the gaitor from the interior?
Or should I go inside the gearbox?

Thanks for any advice

faulty reverse light switch.

Its located on the side of the gearbox. Its on the passenger side next to the neutral switch. both have 2 wires coming out of them. They look identical but one has a black block connector and one has a white connector. Off the top of my head I can't remember which one is the reverse switch but its handy enough to change

Thanks!
To reach it, as you said its beside the geabox, do I need to get under the car?
Or can it be reached from the interior, coming in through the gear lever?

Cheers

you'll need to get under the car either from the front or passenger side

Thanks a lot for the help there
I don't have stands to get under the car unfortunately.
But it probably wont be too expensive to change at a garage.

Thanks again
