Alternator or battery?

Murto

Petrolheads
I recently fitted a newish battery, came out of a Clio( if that matters)
Well the car was running fine for the last few weeks, wouldn't start this morning.
Someone suggested it must be my alternator since the battery is new(ish).

Now was just wondering would the battery light not come on the dash if the alternator
was at fault.

Any help appericated

Hello Murto,

We check the out-put of the alternator with a multi-meter where I work to see if we have an alternator problem

I hope this helps

Cheers,

Michael

ye man usually the light would come on ,id say its the battery man but as above no harm to check its charging while your at it

Battery mightn't have enough ampage, as turning a 1.2 clio and turning a 2.0 requires a fair bit more current. Aldi have a battery, and altenator tester at the minute for a fiver. Can't really go wrong at that price, maybe pick one up if you dont have a multimeter and give both a test.
