Power steering fluid

Hi guys

On start from cold, noise when turning the steering wheel and you can feel it fighting as if there is a problem with the power steering system, goes after about 20 seconds, no leaks, belt looks good and tight, is it possible that this. Could be down to the fluid needing changed?

2003 Jap STI by the way.

Thanks lads.

:thumbsup:had the same with mine mate. Belt defo needs to be tightened. Sorted mine out straight away. Belt felt tight but a couple of more turns of the tightener sorted it

There is no need to change power steering fluid.

Check the tension on the belt and tighten it if needed, check the fluid level when the engine is cold and top up if needed, finally it may need to be bled to let any air out. It is easy to bleed power steering, just start the car then remove the power steering fluid cap and slowly turn the steering wheel full lock left then right over and over for a few mins and top up the fluid afterwards if need be.

Hope this helps man
