tappets i reckon.

Subaru use a bucket and shim arrangement for valve clearance not tappets

Could be valve clearance alright

when was the last service? has it always had this "ticking" or is it a recent development?

Can you hear it louder with bonnet open?

[/quote]i had it fully serviced 2 months go.no its the same sound bonnet up or down only sounds bad when the engine is cold shes a 100% driving not over boosting its at .7 boost not missing or anything like it.its just this ticking noise is driving me to a mental home

Can you pin point exactly where the ticking is coming from?

perhaps its the boost solenoid?

should it not be boosting at 1.0 bar?

and if its louder at cold would it not mean that it must be a part that is covered in oil or lack off when could?

Jomo engineering is the closest lad to you that I would recommend to have a look at her!
e is notoriously hard to get on the phone (John 0877983627), because he is usually wedged under a race car, so if you are around mullingar (kilucan) you should drop into him,
I put in a link to gooogle maps for where you can find him! (hopefully it works)
