any ideas?

lads sorry if this dont make much sense was giving my engine a look over today took out drivers side headlight to fix a corroded wire and noticed a black plastic bottle(looks like some type of Reservoir )
with 2 hoses connecting to the top and a hose going into the bottom its located under the maf?
thing is the bottom hose was not attached took it out and there was no oil or anything in it i connected the hose back up and refitted it
my power stearing has been acting up for a while now and i thought it was the pump is this a power stearing reservoir?
if it is it explains my stearing problem.I have copied a picture of another legacy engine of google and marked the location as i didnt take a picture when i had it out(stupid me)
any ideas?
