legacy b4 power problem

Hi lads just picked up my bl5 and i notice it is losing power in 3rd and fourth gear when i have my foot down, 1st and 2nd gear feel ok but the others when i shift up and put down my foot it struggles a bit instead of flowing smoothly.

anyone know what this may be, the car is only a few hours old i just collected it so dont want this to be anything serious, im broke

im not very technically minded so i cant give a solution or nail down the problem, ill bring her for another spin in a few mins and see if i can give yaz more detail of what it might be.

Could be your clutch gone or going. Did you not notice this on the test drive before buying it?

im based in south dublin mate.

im having issues with the alarm aswell im hoping its just cause i cant use it properly yet. twice it turned off the engine while i was driving and the alarm went off. I had to take out the keys once or twice and write in the code again before it would start.

it is really fast but it doesnt seem to be running right.

no when i brought it on a test drive i didnt go too far from the dealers and i didnt boot it much. It doesnt seem like a major problem, well at least i hope not anyway

how much do the subaru specialists like dave legacy and whoever else charge for a service?

Possible you didnt put the code in correctly. The blue LED will flash once letting you know you have entered the correct code. Did the engine just turn off or did the indicators start flashing and the alarm beeps ??

Have a simular problem with my impreza. Only notice the problem when the engine is under a bit of pressure. Car is with STi Tuning at the min to get it sorted.

At a glance without any investigation, they think its a cracked or split intake pipe.

Only left it to them today so hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

When the car is idle, do the revs stay at a constant 700-800rpm or does the idle tend to go up and down erratically?

yea b4_rsk went up and down erractically a few times when it was started up to about 1000rpm then back down.

engine turned off, while i was driving alarm went off, cant tell if the lights were flashing because when i start the car it locks me in and i cant get out till the key is out haha, was pretty embarrasing stuck in the middle of the road with the alarm going 90 wailing and me stuck inside it haha


and sti bug, yea driving normally its grand just when i put a bit of pressure down on the accelarator, hope something like that is all my problem is, let me know what the story was with yours and how much they charged mate please

Yeah vaccum leak alright, the pipes can be delicate on them, had to replace 5 of mine due to them being cracked and split. Have a look around and see if any are loose or split

i thought it may be something like that, i know you normally here a woosh from the turbo but the noise is loud like a load of air escaping when its drivng hard

I'd bring it to on of the traders on here to have a look at, just to be on the safe side

that sounds like the intercooler pipes might be a bit loose, happened to mine, should have any split/degraded lines since its an 05, but intercooler could hvae been off at some stage and wasnt tighten back up properly. I offer a free inspection if you like, most problems you can experience with a Legacy i think i have experienced already!

will you? yea man that would be a huge help to me as im broke as a joke after buying it n insurance ntax . If you found the problem id be a happy man. Im heading down to offaly tommorow i may be back friday to do a bus driving lesson, and off again to offaly saturday or sunday. then back to dublin monday keeping the woman happy aint easy so any day next week you are about i can meet ya mate if ya would. yea i hope its something small, the engine management light is on aswell, sounds like a rush of air shooting out. Can i ask how much stituning or some of the other tuners here would charge to service the car after i fix this problem, you lads know?
