Closed Deck?

Alright lads finally saved the cash to get a full rebuild done and was just looking around on how to ID the block i noticed on another forum that if theres cross hatches under the alternator pulley its safe to say its a closed deck is this true because i have these on mine, did i stumble upon a little gem for the build or is this untrue??
 
CDB is the way to go for big power and the cross hatching would be something to look out for on one of these said blocks it should have ej22 stamped somewere if its genuine
 
There are EJ20 Closed deck blocks also!!
I'm sure some one will be on to clarify shortly!

As Dan said there are EJ20 CDB from the early sti ra etc
 
Kinda going off topic, but kinda not,
Is there a disadvantage to a CDB??

everything has an advantage and disadvantage , they say that closed deck cant get rid of heat as quick as an open deck or semi closed deck :thumbsup:
 
its a v3 sti on the chasis engine stamp its down as an ej20k but the engine has the cross hatches on it
 
And finally i understand what a closed deck is .....
Hmmm interesting ,
Had been meaning to Google it , but never got around to it ...
